REGIONS - Continued

In California, we survey a profusion of house types which used earth, wood, and fiber for their coverings. We divide the Southwest region into two chapters, first describing the western tribes that occupied single-family dwellings arranged in seasonal camps, and then the Pueblo Indian world from the time of ancient pit houses to the communal stone-and-adobe villages found in the Southwest today.
